Ponds Forge International Sports Centre is a World class sports venue and attracts some of the biggest and best National and International sporting events on offer.
For Ultimate use, the hall is split down the middle by way of a curtain and rebound boards, leaving two large pitches either side. Spectators can watch all the action from the viewing balcony or from behind the safety netting near the pitch entrances on the ground level. Only players and coaches should be standing on the sidelines of the pitches - this is a safety issue, and actually in the UKU Indoor Rules...
The foodetc. cafe offers a range of hot and cold meals, drinks and snacks; and is open from 9am until 8pm. This is also a fully licensed bar and has two flat screen TVs for watching the days live sporting action.
If you want to chill out between matches without all the hussle and bussle of the sports hall and balcony areas, why not make use of the Player Lounge?! Located on the ground floor opposite the Pitch 1 entrance, here you will find a space in which to relax in comfort.
Water from the taps around Ponds Forge is NOT suitable for drinking. Drinking water will be available from containers outside the Player Lounge, or from the Cafe.
A few venue rules:
~ Competitors' shoes MUST have non-marking soles. Any player spotted wearing the wrong footwear can, and will, be removed from the hall by the TD at any time.
~ There is very little warm-up space! Discs MUST NOT be thrown in the reception area or near any doors or fire exits. Any players warming up (e.g. running) or throwing discs may be asked to stop by centre staff or the TD.
~ CAMERAS: Any person wishing to take photos or videos should register the Tournament Director.
~ Fire exits MUST be kept clear at all times. The doors should ONLY be used in an emergency as they are all ALARMED.
We have 24 teams once again this year which provides a fairly tight schedule, but there are plenty of matches for all teams.
Round 1: 4 pools with 6 teams in each
Round 2: Cross-overs in the 5-12 and 13-20 brackets
Round 3: Quarter-finals (1-8, 9-16, 17-24)
Round 4: Semi-finals
Round 5: Finals
NB.
Top and bottom placed teams in Round 1 DO NOT get a cross-over (but do get later starts on Sunday).

A full schedule will be provided to teams as part of your entry pack. Please note that the final is due to start at 16:33 on Sunday and the presentation should take place at approximately 17:00.
We have use of a function room at the University Arms from 8.30pm on Friday. As you head through the main door, you will see some stairs on the right hand side before you go through to the bar area. Head upstairs (2 flights) and the function room is on the right. There'll be a sign up on the door, and possibly at the bottom of the stairs if we can.
Scroll down to see a map of the area. You can park on the streets nearby, but the surrounding car parks are for University permit holders only. If you are getting the train to Sheffield, you can get the blue route tram from the station to the University of Sheffield tram stop, just a short walk from the pub.
Last orders is at midnight and if we're still there we will be kicked out by 12.30am.
In 2012 Mix & Mingle is going back to it's roots, returning to the venue used for both the 2008 and 2009 parties, University House.
Located next to the University of Sheffield Students' Union, the upstairs bar and function room at University House is a pretty decent space and the last two parties we held there were both fairly epic.
The exact start time will be announced shortly (likely around 9pm) but we do urge teams to get there as early as possible so as to make use of the time that we do have. We can only get the venue until 1pm so we'd like to avoid the scenes we had in 2011 where loads of people didn't turn up until nearly 11pm!
I shouldn't have to say it but, as there are teams competiting who haven't played Mix & Mingle before, the party theme is 1980s. Whether you come as your favourite 80s TV/film character, or just raid the charity shops for some retro clothing, dressing up is definitely the norm for this event and not the exception!
As ever there will be a prize for the best team or individual costume (voted for by the other teams) and this year there will also be a party award given out to a team or individual that deserves it!
Entry is £3 paid in advance - you will need to purchase a wristband from tournament HQ during Saturday.
Those teams who have requested accommodaiton will either be staying with kind and generous Sheffield folk, or in the scout hall that we have used for the last few years. Additional info will be available nearer the time, particularly for those teams staying in the hall.
The scout hall is walking distance from Ponds Forge and University House, as well as being close to shops and restaurants. If you are staying at someone's house, it will likely be in the Crookes/Walkley area of Sheffield (about 15-20mins walk to the party).
You can't beat the awesome Mix & Mingle trophies and this year there will be more than ever before! 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 17th and 23rd will all get an 80s movie inspired trophy, and there will also be:
- team spirit prize (usually edible)
- team or individual party award
- team or individual costume prize
- final MVPs (male and female)
Friday party at University Arms - postcode is S3 7HG.
